United management and their high priced attorneys will be inside the court requesting a tenth extension to their exclusive right to file a plan of reorganization. While our attorneys are fighting for our rights inside the courtroom, we'll be fighting for our rights on the street.
CHICAGO - We alerted the public on July 28, through our Global Day of Action that the fight to preserve our defined benefit pension plan includes legal appeal, legislative action and, if necessary, the implementation of CHAOS™ strikes.
July 5, 2005 - The AFL-CIO, and its 13 million members, last week threw its support behind legislation for a six-month moratorium on pension plan terminations by the PBGC. An alert was sent to AFL-CIO members through the Working Families E-Activist Network to add their voices to the demand that Congress take action to save retirement security through HR 2327.
June 30, 2005 - Today our Contract has been unilaterally changed. This unilateral change to our Contract - termination of our pension plan - triggers our right to strike. We will continue our three-pronged fight to preserve our retirement security..
June 13, 2005 - "This is nothing less than an attack on the Flight Attendants and your actions are intended to directly interfere with our legal rights under the Railway Labor Act and the First Amendment."
JUN 13 - We are working on three tracks to stop CEO Glenn Tilton from destroying our retirement security while he saves his own $4.5 million pension trust. If the courts and Congress refuse to ensure justice through our legal and legislative tracks, we will proceed with our most powerful track through CHAOS™ Strikes.

June 10, 2005 - In an exercise the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO (AFA) referred to as a CHAOS™ Drill, demonstrated how quickly flight attendants could initiate surprise strikes at O'Hare International Airport.
June 03, 2005 - Attend the court hearing to put a human face on the potential harm of United's destructive actions.
May 18, 2005 - AFA filed a notice of appeal to overturn the bankruptcy court’s approval of the agreement between United Airlines and the PBGC to terminate employee pension plans for $1.5 billion.
Congress Needs to Hear from Us
May 17, 2005 - United is on Capitol Hill, lobbying hard and placing pressure wherever they can with the some of the best professional lobbyists in the country.
May 12, 2005 - In light of the leadership vacuum at United, our immediate goals have become ever more clear:
- Replace current management with new leadership.
- Protect our retirement security.
- Successfully emerge from bankruptcy.
May 10, 2005 - Today in federal bankruptcy court, Judge Wedoff ruled to approve a settlement agreement with the Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation (PBGC) that is expected to result in the termination of our pension plan. This is the end of labor relations at United Airlines with Glenn Tilton and his henchmen at the helm.
May 09, 2005 - If this dishonest, inept management team remains at the helm of our airline, and if they unilaterally alter or abrogate our Contract, we will strike.
