The Flight Attendant Union Continues Call for Full Recall of the UniformWashington, DC (June 19, 2017) — The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) renews demand for a full recall of American Airlines Flight Attendant uniforms alongside recent news reports that management is moving on a new uniform for pilots. “Reports show that the current uniforms are still causing serious health issues for Flight Attendants, and American management must fix it now,” said Sara Nelson, AFA International President. “An entire recall of the uniform is in order. American needs to source and manufacture a different uniform entirely for Flight Attendants and thoroughly test the pieces to avoid a repeat of the same issues.”

U.S.-based Norwegian Flight Attendants Join the Flight Attendant Union

U.S.-based Norwegian flight attendants voted today to join the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA). Last month the Executive Board of the Norwegian Cabin Crew Association agreed to join AFA pending a full membership vote. Today 59 percent of the voters elected AFA as their collective bargaining representative. In doing so the flight attendants rejected an intense campaign of management interference and union-busting during the vote.

Mesa Airlines Flight Attendants Authorize Strike

Mesa Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), today voted 99.56 percent for strike authorization. Mesa Airlines operates flights for American Airlines (as American Eagle) and United Airlines (as United Express). Mesa flight attendants are underpaid compared to other flight attendants flying for United and American airlines.

Strike vote ballots have been sent to the over 1,000 flight attendants, with a vote count scheduled for March 29, 2017. Mesa Airlines operates flights for American Airlines (as American Eagle) and United Airlines (as United Express).
