“We Remember” 10-year Anniversary September 11 Commemorative Ribbon
As part of our 10-year anniversary remembrance of September 11, your Local Council has a free “We Remember” black ribbon with gold edging available for every AFA Member.
The ribbons will be available September 1 and may be worn throughout the month of September to honor our fallen Flight Attendant heroes from September 11, 2001. Please stop by or contact your Local Council to pick up your own “We Remember” commemorative ribbon.
September 11 is remembered by each of us in our own individual and personal ways. The “We Remember” ribbon, as well as the 10-year anniversary wristband are two ways the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA) offer to share our remembrance of our fallen Flight Attendant heroes together, for those who choose to do so. For more information please contact your Local Council.
September 11, 10-year Anniversary “We Remember” wristband
Beginning September 1, 2011 your Local Council office will have available a limited supply of “We Remember” wristbands. They are black with gold lettering that says “We Remember” and “35” to honor the 35 crewmembers lost 10 years ago.
The wristbands are available from your Local Council for a suggested donation of $1, beginning September 1.
Proceeds above the cost of the bracelet is being donated to the three National September 11 Memorials as follows:
The National September 11 Memorial in NYC, where all donations are dedicated to developing and sustaining the National September 11 Memorial & Museum.
The National 9/11 Memorial at the Pentagon. Our donation to this memorial will help maintain the Memorial and develop new educational resources that ensure there is always a place for future generations from around the world to learn about September 11, 2001 and reflect on its significance.
The Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, PA. Donations will help build the Flight 93 National Memorial, where future generations will come to learn about how the actions of a few people can change the world. All donations to The Flight 93 National Memorial Campaign will have a dollar-for-dollar match by the National Park Foundation Board of Directors.
We have coordinated with our newest AFA Members at Continental, as well as the Association of Professional Flight Attendants (APFA) at American Airlines; who are also offering the wristbands for donation to their Members. The donations from all groups will be combined and donated on behalf of Flight Attendants from AFA and APFA to the three National Memorials.
