Contract Survey Instructions
2012-2016 Contract
Spring 2010 Contract Negotiations Survey Closed
The Negotiations survey closed today at 1100 Chicago time. The feedback submitted by those who participated will now be compiled by the survey company and studied by our Negotiating Committee. Our Negotiating Committee and other professionals will use the survey results, along with other direct feedback from Members throughout the system, as a means to keep you directly involved in the process.
These negotiations are about you - and keeping you directly involved in the process makes these negotiations meaningful and allows us to all benefit from the power of your involvement. While our negotiators are at the table, we will continue to discuss with each other through our Flight Attendant Negotiations Network to ensure we can continue to two-way conversations with our negotiators. And, we will continue to build our leverage as each of us prepares to take collective action for the Contract that reflects our critical contributions to United Airlines.
The entire purpose of these negotiations is to achieve meaningful improvements for our Flight Attendant community. By participating, you have a stake in these negotiations. It is your involvement that will make the difference as we negotiate for the Contract we want. It is not enough to take part in one picketing event, go to one meeting or respond to one survey. Every time our Negotiators call on us for participation and feedback we need to make every effort to do our part.
Our Negotiating Committee appreciates the participation of everyone who provided their feedback at this important step in the process. There will be many more opportunities for all of us to contribute to negotiations that command a new high standard for Flight Attendants throughout the industry.
Our success depends on you. Look for opportunities to be a part of the process, attend meetings, sign up for the Flight Attendant Negotiations Network and remain informed through AFA communications.

NOTE: While survey responses may be entered on-line or through the telephone we recommend completing the survey on the web. This method may be easier since the survey is quite lengthy and more cumbersome for telephonic response.

- Go to www.unitedafa.org and click on the “Contract Negotiations Survey” link. Enter your VIN and PIN, then click “Login.”
- Next, change your PIN to ensure the privacy of your survey responses. Change your PIN to any 4-8 digit number you choose. You must remember your new PIN, because you will need it if you wish to access the survey system again.
- Once you've changed your PIN, type your new PIN in the login area.
- From the menu on the left side of the screen, select “Take Surveys.” Select “April 2010 AFA-CWA United Negotiations Survey” from the pull-down list. Then, click “Request Survey.”
- Mark your response to each survey question. Submit finished survey by clicking “Submit Survey Responses.”
- Write down your confirmation number – this is your survey receipt – and then click “Logout.”
Save Responses and Avoid Time Out
You may start responding to the survey and return to complete your responses at a later time. However, a suspended web survey may only be resumed on the web; similarly, a suspended telephone survey may only be resumed by telephone.
If you do not click on a selection item or type a response within 30 minutes while on the survey screen, the survey will “time out” and you will need to log in again. If you need to step away from the survey for some reason, it’s better to first select “Save Survey,” and Logout. When you return to the survey, Login again and select “Resume Saved Survey,” to access your previously saved responses. Do not select “Take Survey,” as this will restart your survey responses from the beginning.
If you select the option to “Save Partially Completed Survey,” you will be advised that your responses will not be submitted as part of the survey tally until you click the button to “Submit Survey Responses.”
