Ladies and Gentlemen:
The United Master Executive Council (MEC) met in special session to review the Tentative Agreement reached with United management on January 7, 2012.
Our Flight Attendant community has waited for much needed improvements to our Contract which became amendable on January 7, 2010 for 12 weeks of Expedited Mediation and 115 weeks of regular Section 6 Negotiations. Despite the many obstacles and challenges, we remained undeterred from our number one goal of seeking a path forward that provides for an expeditious resolution to our current Negotiations with an Agreement that addresses our immediate needs and serves as a stepping-stone to a Single Contract.
The MEC has reviewed the terms of the Tentative Agreement. The consensus of the MEC is to accept the Tentative Agreement and recommend a “FOR” vote. This decision has not been made lightly. This Tentative Agreement addresses the priorities you have told us were important in a Contract, provides much needed relief to our Flight Attendant community with immediate improvements, and moves us forward to Single Contract Negotiations.
We encourage you to become informed by carefully understanding the components of our Tentative Agreement. We encourage you to attend an upcoming roadshow, talk with your elected Local Leadership and view the upcoming video on our website, www.unitedafa.org.
The decision is in your hands as to whether this Tentative Agreement is a step forward in addressing your needs. Together, we will better our lives and our profession through our Solidarity as we take another step forward improving our future.
